2005 Survey of Manager and Executive Compensation in Hospitals and Health Systems Released by Sullivan, Cotter and Associates, Inc.

(CHICAGO, August 2, 2005) - Sullivan, Cotter and Associates, Inc. has published the 2005 Survey of Manager and Executive Compensation in Hospitals and Health Systems, now in its thirteenth edition. The number of participating health systems and hospitals has increased significantly in the past year. In 2004, 150 health systems and 581 hospitals participated in the survey. This year 185 health systems and 670 hospitals participated in this survey, a respected industry resource. This year, five health system and four hospital positions have been added to the survey. Survey participants submitted data between January and May 2005. Modern Healthcare magazine has released portions of the survey in its August 1, 2005 issue.

“It is apparent from the data presented that annual incentive plans play a significant part in total compensation packages for health system executives and managers,” noted Jim Rohan, vice president and managing director of SullivanCotter’s Chicago office. According to this year’s survey, 74% of participating health systems offer an annual incentive plan for executives and managers, an increase as compared to the survey results from two years ago, where 72% offered such plans. Hospitals also show a large increase in the number of executive and manager incentive plans, from 74% two years ago to 81% presently.

The 2005 Survey of Manager and Executive Compensation in Hospitals and Health Systems is available for purchase beginning August 16. The cost to healthcare organizations agreeing to participate in next year’s survey is $450, and for those not wishing to participate, the cost is $1,200. The cost to non-healthcare organizations is $2,500.
