James Albanice
Controller
James Albanice is the Controller for Sullivan, Cotter and Associates, Inc. and is based in the Detroit office. James joined SullivanCotter from Main Street Bank, where he also served as Controller. In this position, his primary responsibilities involved managing the bank’s financial and regulatory reporting, including shareholder relations, asset liability management and assisting with Federal, State and external audits performed throughout the year. He was also a member of the bank’s Technical Steering and Risk Management Committee.

As Controller for SullivanCotter, James is responsible for managing the finance and information technology departments within the firm.  He also directs the coordination of company financial reporting, budget management functions and oversight of firm corporate investments.

Additionally, James’ responsibilities encompass:

  • Oversight of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives.
  • Development, analysis and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating efficiencies of the organization.

James holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Alma College as well as a Master of Science degree in Accountancy from Walsh College (Troy, MI).
